Oil and Gas Distribution

Valdez is the southern terminus point for the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS). The Valdez Marine Terminal (VMT) serves as the trans-shipment point for North Slope crude oil, storing more than 7 million barrels destined for west coast refineries.

TAPS also employs a network of escort and response vessels for tankers entering and exiting the Sound. Suppliers, contractors, and workers come from every community in the region; spanning direct employment, speciality services contracting, community engagement, and ecosystem monitoring.
